Our Story

Saurastar is an homage to the ancestral heritage of our Founding Partner. We take deep pride in our Indian roots and family history, which serve as an inspiration and model for what our firm represents and the value we seek to provide to families and businesses in India through our alternative investments’ platform.

The name Saurastar Capital was derived from a combination of Saurashtra and Star. The former is part of the Indian state of Gujarat, where the founder’s great-grandfather and grandfather were pioneering chemical engineers who founded two of India’s largest heavy chemicals enterprises, Tata Chemicals in Mithapur and Saurashtra Chemicals in Porbandar,respectively.

The “star” in Saurastar signifies the American half of our firm’s identity and our US presence, representing the Stars and Stripes of the American flag and the opportunities it has afforded us to pursue and share with other families in India.

The work of these previous generations played a role propelling Indian industry to compete on a global scale, paving the way for India to become the economic powerhouse it is today. Today, Saurastar Capital serves as a global investment bridge to and from India, connecting investors with today’s international opportunities.
